It was one of the great mysteries of recent "Sadwell" times how the ill-thought of Garry Morris managed to hold down a well-paid job at Sandwell Council whilst keeping his talents and abilities so well-concealed. Of course, being prepared to do the bidding of the late "Dickhead Daz" Cooper and assisting him with the shafting of The Public no doubt did him no harm at all and he is also the son of Labour "aristocrat" "Baron" Morris of Handsworth...... We have seen many times in this blog that nepotism and cronyism were two prominent features of the crazed Cooper/Britton regime.
And the cronyism at the top filtered down through the ranks during the latter years of the "socialist" dictatorship. Thus, shortly before his universally unlamented departure from Sadwell, Morris booked an art exhibition for the benighted inhabitants of the Borough. Now he was not renowned for "busting a gut" in the day job but still managed to find a nice little exhibition provided by New Art Exchange (a charitable limited arts company in Nottingham). As a cost of just £2,000 (ex Vat) he didn't have to clear this with anyone and went ahead and booked it - the invoice to SMBC is specifically marked for his attention.
As Sandwell Council have put it: "The postholder, who has now left, would have been expected, as part of his strategic role for the Arts ("lol" - Ed) to develop suitable partnerships and link with a range of organisations.....".
Partnerships eh? A Director of New Arts Exchange Limited who got the contract is one Reyahn King. Who she? The same woman shown on the voters roll as living with Mr Garry A. Morris and widely said to be his, er, no doubt very suitable partner!
As we have seen with the Hussains. Roufs, Ahmeds, Hortons, Jones's et al - there is nothing like keeping it "in the family" in incestuous Sadders.....
