SMBC Fight to Hide Jan Britton's Interests

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away I applied to corrupt Labour Sandwell for sight of the Chief Executive's Register of Interests. Jan Britton has been paid well over £1 million pounds as head Sandwell's bent paid service plus extra income as returning officer. During his tenure in post Sandwell has become, as James Morris MP said in the House of Commons, synonymous with fraud, incompetence and cronyism and the all-important Children's Services remained as "inadequate" despite Britton's direct involvement in a very expensive contract with IMPOWER.

When I asked Britton directly for sight of the Register he refused. When I applied through the (Deputy) Monitoring Officer Sandwell he said he would treat my request as a Freedom of Information request (FOI). Having done that the Council refused the request!

I applied for an Internal Review and eventually received a copy BUT with five items redacted:

Three of the entries SMBC are hiding are no longer "live" but they want to keep them quiet. Two "interests" are live.

In the circumstances I have appealed to the Information Commissioner to force disclosure. Watch this space....
