No-one seems to be able to tell me what this greaser actually did to deserve the Order of the British Empire in the first place but there have been repeated, and I must stress unproven, allegations about his involvement in dodgy land deals since the late 1990's (before he was "honoured".) Questions were raised for many years about his involvement in certain "unusual" aspects of the Compulsory Purchase Scheme relating to West Bromwich Street, Oldbury, especially why "special arrangements" only related to two of the many people affected by the CPO ie Bawa and another Labour Councillor. Questions were raised with the District Auditor as long ago as 2001.
In late 2014 this blog exclusively revealed questions concerning Bawa's involvement in the acquisition of property at Bridge Street, Oldbury at what appears to be a very modest price. In 2007 he failed to declare an interest in the property when making a planning application to his own Council.
As ever, corrupt Sandwell Police declined to investigate and the usual cover-up began by his fellow Labour Party colleagues and Jan Britton's (the now disgraced Chief Executive's) bent paid service. However, the story burst back into life in 2017 although, once again, the Bent Blues refused to get involved.
Bawa (pictured below far left) remains a Councillor and pockets his allowances but he has refused to participate in Sandwell Council's own (purported) "enquiry" into this affair and so faces a standards charge in respect of an alleged breach on the Member's code (which doesn't say much noting how this procedure itself has been rigged in recent years by the comrades and staff.)

This is incredible news although it has also been pointed out that there is no investigatory process in all this and I suspect that the British Establishment is not, in the end, going to admit that it got it wrong in doling out a gong to this piece of work. But you never know (and if anyone knows anymore on this scandal please let me know!)
Labour Sandwell Council has become infamous for fraud, cronyism, corruption and incompetence but this scum are now under scrutiny like never before (thanks to a lowly employee and the GMB Union - itself now embroiled in a sex and drugs scandal of which more anon - permitting me the "space" to follow up all these issues). And of course, not forgetting the hard work of many others and the growing Tory legion in the Borough now calling the Labour Dictatorship to account.
Let's hope the "OBE" after Bawa's name soon stands for Out on his Bloody Ear!
