#Tractorgate!

Bouquets before brickbats. I have personal knowledge of efforts being made by Yvonne Davies's team and Acting Chief Executive, David Stevens, to drain the swamp since fishing the "turd" out of it. I can tell you that there are major investigations ongoing and that the Council is making some efforts to make disclosure of wrongdoing (not perfect yet but on the right tracks.)

Thus it is worrying that in the last couple of days there have been signs of slippage. Firstly, Leader Yvonne has lambasted me on social media for "targetting" £100k+ a year (?) Director, "Dr" Alison Knight, by describing in yesterday's blog how Knight produced a pathetic and grossly misleading report to Cabinet on the basis of which they decided to press ahead with the bent deal to destroy Lion Farm Fields. This is EXACTLY the behaviour of Cooper and Squealing Eling where any disclosure of wrongdoing by staff is rapidly covered-up and the messenger shot rather than the transgressor.

I am assuming from the attacks on me that Knight has not been suspended......

And then we come to the infamous missing "tractor" - actually a £10,000 blue Iseki TXG 237 ride-on lawnmower-type vehicle which was stolen from SMBC:

Today, community-activist Darryl Magher, has sent me the response to his Freedom of Information request on this subject - answered by David Stevens himself.

SMBC say there was no system for signing the tractor in and out so that there was no record of who had the equipment at any time! New systems are being put in place to rectify this.

There was a tracker on the vehicle. I understand there were "problems" relating to this and I think it is fair that Mr Stevens declines to comment further on this as the investigation into the disappearance on the vehicle is - belatedly - ongoing.

The theft was reported to the police as long ago as 16th April, 2018!!!! There is a £500 reward for information leading to the recovery of the machine and if you wish to contact the bent blues the Sandwell Police crime reference number is 20SW/84029L/18.

It will one day become public knowledge that the former boss of Sandwell Police, Ch Supt Rich Baker, held information about one of the persons believed to be involved in this matter already in respect of a different allegation of criminal activity but for reasons best known to corrupt WMP it seems that no investigation was ever commenced. Who knows - they might have killed two birds with one stone but "Rich" knew the person concerned had friends in high places......

[Bizarrely at this precise point of typing I received a call from a member of the Muslim community concerning police corruption relating to the Council. I have recently also had two other bits of criminal intelligence and am mulling over what to do with the information. I am minded that rather than go to the police and be p*ssed on yet again I may pass the info direct to the alleged criminals and "cut out the middle-man" but we shall see....]

Back to the tractor! Mr Stevens has confirmed that on 4th January, 2019 there was a "suspected sighting" of the machine but he says "we were unable to gain access to the vehicle to determine if this was the stolen lawnmower. Therefore 'we' took the decision not to involve the Police...." He bizarrely claims that to divulge further information "would constitute a data protection breach" [which is a gambit frequently used by SMBC which is wrong in most cases and, further, names can usually just be redacted] and "may compromise our ongoing investigation."

I am sorry Mr Stevens but this is taking us back to the Squealing Eling days! How can a sighting 8 months ago prejudice an ongoing investigation?

And so here are the facts as far as I can tell you readers! It should be noted that there is an allegation that someone within SMBC was trying to "fit-up" a particular employee. In particular he had enemies at the highest level of SMBC for various reasons not the least being that he upset the former regime by refusing to give the police a statement against me relating to the "C*cksucker" incident on what you may think was the very reasonable ground that he wasn't actually there!

We start with our old friend "the anonymous tip-off" - a procedure beloved of the Cooper and Squealing Eling regimes. On 4th January, 2019 an "anonymous tip-off" was received that a Sandwell Council employee was using the tractor on his day off at York Road Social Club.

Two points here. (1) this was a Friday and (2) whenever I tell SMBC of information received from my many anonymous informants I am branded a liar and fantasist whereas "self-generated" tip-offs are given credence and immediately acted upon.

Thus after a flurry of phone-calls three SMBC employees were dispatched to York Road - Tim Pitt, Jane Weaver and Max Cookson. They all say that they observed Mr X riding up and down on a blue tractor they believed to be the stolen one cutting the grass. (How they claim to be able to identify the machine is not known.) They saw Mr X get in his car and leave. It is not known whether he took the tractor with him or left it on site.

At no stage did this trio phone the police even though the theft had been reported over 8 months previously and even though their "intelligence" was that this was the stolen item. They did say, however, that they DID phone Jan Britton who told them NOT to phone the police!!!

I do not go in for conspiracy theories but this sounds very odd. Why did staff feel the need to speak direct to Britton instead of phoning the police? If the tractor was left at the Social Club why were the police not informed to gain entry and check it out as the missing model? Why was the information not passed to the police in any event for them to investigate?

In fact nothing was done at all until the following Monday. There is then a written record then of Stuart Lackenby saying "this looks bad for Mr X"! I don't now about you readers but this sounds like Jan Britton and Co playing the man and not the ball?

Later a union rep put pressure on Mr X to leave with a management offer of a £10k pay-off (the value of the tractor lol) and a good reference.

There are the facts then folks - make of them what you will! And maybe the bent cops should start looking at what has been going on inside Oldbury Council House rather than outside it!
