And did you know that if you are a Labour Councillor you are forced to join a trade union? A female councillor wrote to me to say she had never been in unionised employment but was forced to join the infamous Watsonite GMB to be eligible for selection.
It seems that the only purpose (subject to what is said below) that the unions have in SMBC is to let Jan Britton sack staff and then negotiate huge pay-offs and gagging clauses for the victims. No doubt they would say that this is doing the best by their members but you could equally argue that it festers the corruption in Jan's paid service where people know the unprincipled local cops will not investigate SMBC and bent staff will get references and pay-offs unless they do something really, really bad! Thus someone caught looking at child pornography was still given a full reference and went straight into another job in West Bromwich. People were sacked unfairly but paid off and gagged eg Melanie Dudley, Jez Hall and many others. Even bad managers facing the sack like "XX" were still given small pay-offs!
Breaking Rumour - bizarrely a caller has just contacted me to say that Jan Britton's "right-hand man" has been offered £75k to f off and keep his gob shut. Any news on that would be very welcome
In education there are 14 employees who get time off at the taxpayers' expense for union duties and they cost you £199,000 per annum.
In the rest of the corrupt council there are no less that 60 (yes - sixty) union officials of which a stonking 11 are full-time. The full-timers cost you a further £271,700!
But the gravy train doesn't stop there. When the corrupt deal was done to close The Public much rubbish was spoken by the comrades about the Town Halls being used for offices for small businesses so that they generate some income. Well we saw what happened in Wednesbury when "Queen Elaine" was treasurer of Wednesbury Celebrates and anyone walking up West Brom High Street will see how shabby that Town Hall looks.
BUT - thanks to information obtained by local resident Lorraine Binsley - it now transpires that the GMB and Unison unions (at least) are being provided with rent-free accommodation by Jan Britton as well! The GMB have 36.15 sq metres from us taxpayers at Smethwick Town Hall and Unison luxuriate in 72.2 sq metres at West Brom Town Hall. How very cosy for Labour and their union pals. It is noteworthy that the brothers and sisters are not allowed free office space at Terry Duffy House where, of course, the rapacious landlord is, er, The Labour Party!
The unions have been supine in Sandwell eg they all turned up at a Labour photo-op at a recent Council meeting (with one patting Queen Elaine on the shoulder as she took to the floor). But, rather cleverly, Unite (eventually) joined by Unison put in for a pay rise for some of the worst-paid staff in "socialist" Sandwell Council, the customer service assistants. They timed the whole thing in the run-up to the Council elections and the comrades immediately caved-in! But then it isn't their money they are giving away is it?
MYSTERY SOLVED!
Regular readers of this blog will be familiar with the way the "socialists" sh*t on the seven secretaries (all female) who work for the Cabinet "members". This all harks back to the rigged standards "investigation" against Cllr Ian Jones. It transpired that SOMEONE happened to see the infamous meeting when Sandwell's highly controversial Monitoring Officer, and the most dangerous individual in the bent paid service, Surjit Tour, addressed the members of the standards committee BEFORE Cllr Jones's hearing in an highly irregular "briefing". When Tour was metaphorically caught with his trousers down all hell broke loose. There is a Freedom of Information Act request in about the identity of the participants in the fiasco that followed but Jan Britton is refusing to answer it and the matter is with the Information Commissioner.
Some absolute sh*thead decided that it must have been one of the secretaries who had let the cat out of the bag as to what Tour was up to. In true "socialist"-style the seven unfortunate women were SUSPENDED from their jobs. Disgracefully, no cabinet member nor member of the standards committee made any public statement in defence of The Sandwell Seven. Nor for that matter did ANY Labour Councillor (with the possible exception of Ian himself). Hardly very "comradely"!
Britton arranged a partial shut-down of the computer system in an effort to find evidence to incriminate The Seven despite The Skidder and others trying to tell the bully boys and girls at the time that these women were wholly blameless!
Six of the women were in Unite who secured their re-instatement pronto with compensation paid our of OUR pockets for this gross negligence by Jan Britton's bent paid service. The seventh secretary was in the GMB but, so I am told, was not helped but was at least reinstated with the others. Jan Britton has been directly asked why it is fair for six of seven women to receive compo when the other is left out but he has declined to comment. As above, he is trying to stop the identities of the guilty parties in this gross bullying from coming out.
And lol - it now transpires that the whistleblower who saw Tour's secret briefing was - wait for it - not any of the seven bullied women but a male trade union official!!! You just couldn't make it up!
AND FINALLY:
Election over and so Inane Elaine Costigan has now taken to Twitter extolling the merits of Tom Watson's campaign for a second Brexit referendum! Hope the folk of Wednesbury are going to have a chat with her about that!
