Bye Bye Britton?

One of the first major jobs for Yvonne Davies, the new Labour Leader of bent Sandwell Council, is the immediate suspension of joke "Chief Executive" Jan Britton pending a full investigation of his conduct over many years. The former Leader , Squealing Eling, said he was going to to "fish the t*rd from the pool" but did nothing. Of course, Yvonne may be waiting until after the Euro election as Britton is on his second extra pay day of the month as returning officer but this boil has to be lanced - and soon.

Even Britton deserves a fair hearing - a right he likes to deny other people - and this will all cost us money but the job has to be done. He will have to be suspended on full pay with David Stevens taking the role on a temporary capacity and a proper - and truly independent investigation - started. This should, of course, focus on whether Britton has been telling the truth when he says he has been unaware of the fraud and corruption going on - and covered-up - during his disastrous reign. If he was innocent then the next question is WHY was he unaware of what was going on under his nose and whether such apparent gross negligence deserves dismissal or some other sanction. It is hard to see how he can avoid carrying the can for what has gone on and, if he is to be dismissed, this must be without a penny of taxpayers' money "compensating" him for failure.

Britton was the arse-licker supreme of Cooper, Eling and Hussain. As such he was directly involved in the bent deal to destroy The Public. Last year, The Skidder received a redacted email clearly showing that Britton, Cooper, Eling and Hussain was secretly in discussions with Val Bailey of Sandwell College and so I out in a Freedom of Information (FOI) request. (I should say here that there are widespread but unproven rumours that Tom Watson MP had also been in detailed secret negotiations with Bailey to destroy the place. I repeat that these are totally unproven.)

My FOI which started:

"On 25th January, 2013 Jan Britton wrote an email to unknown recipients: "Just so you are aware, Val Bailey of Sandwell College has asked me not to raise The Public at this afternoon's meeting - because she hasn't yet discussed it with her Governing Body, who will be present at the meeting."

You will see that apart from admitting that the secret email was sent to the Three Amigos Britton's bent paid service have blocked any proper response to this although they do admit that  Jan Britton was lying to the College about an alleged interested third party when there wasn't one.

And as part of the bent deal Jan Britton was forced onto the Board of the College!

What is it with Jan Britton and Wragge and Co (now Gowling Wragge)? Anyone remember another mega-Sandwell disaster - the multi-million pound fiasco of the BT Contract. The comrades had their pants taken down good and proper again whilst boasting about another "world class" deal. Of course, the whole thing went pear-shaped (and there is still a question about a £15m "hole" in the accounts.)

Having f*cked everything up Labour decided they needed to get out of a fifteen-tear contract early. And they needed expensive solicitors to sort out the mess. And so, of course, they put the matter out to tender. No, only joking, they went to Jan Britton's "go-to" firm, Wragge's! But this was going to costs and so the normal procurement rules had to be waived (yet again). And so Cllrs Cooper, Eling (the "money-man") and Hussain signed an exemption form to dodge the rules. But get this - Jan Britton's bent paid service have "lost" this document. Allegedly "extensive" searches have been made of the physical and electronic filing systems in Britton's circus and zilch, nowt, nothing!

At least one record is still in existence - Wragge's were made over HALF A MILLION POUNDS to sort Labour's pathetic deal out. £585,357.90p to be precise. I don't seem to have read about that in the "peer review" that Britton keeps boasting about!
