Statue Pay Day for Jim Cadman!

Kerching! The day has finally arrived when "Sunny Jim" Cadman cashes out on another of his statue deals. Yet again there have been no accounts produced by him showing how much he and sculptor Graham Ibbeson have creamed off during the tortuous process to erect a hideous, cartoonish-statue of three of my heroes in the hell-hole that is "Socialist" Sandwell.

The mainstream media have gone into overdrive forgetting that the people of West Brom did NOT want this piece of meretricious sh*t plonked in a dismal shopping centre. Time and time again public appeals for cash fell on deaf ears . Ask anyone now saying how much they wanted a statue of Brendon, Cyrille and Laurie whether they actually made a donation - you won't find many. And the most sickening thing of all is that, once again, Cadman is playing the race issue to promote this private business scheme (see posts passim.)

The photo below shows Sandwell Labour's grotesque racist stunt when they nicked Arts Council money intended for an arts festival to have three black men pose as the statue. Except they insisted on painting them, er, gold (which is not the colour of the statue!)

This blog has recorded the history of this farce for years. Anyone interested can go back through the many posts on this subject. But let's just highlight a few things:

  1. Jeremy Peace whatever you think of the former owner of our beloved Club he is plainly a good judge of character. Slimeball salesman Jim wanted to put the "Three Degrees" statue at the Hawthorns and he hoped the club would also stump up plenty of loot. Like the canny Yorkshire folk who showed Sunny Jim the door at Leeds United when he wanted to do his Don Revie statue*, Mr Peace didn't fall for the Cadman schtick.
  2. Frank Skinner the media love to portray this guy as the face of the campaign to try and give it some legitimacy. But sources say Skinner charged his full (and very large) fee for the launch event. Skinner and his management have refused to comment.
  3. Legal Status of the Fund - I was really surprised that in this day and age a person running a private business can simply set up a fund and ask people to donate to it without having to produce a jot of evidence as to what happened to the money raised. Given that the moronic local and notoriously corrupt Labour Council had diverted £30,000 of taxpayers' money to this private business scheme and that they could not produce any accounts of where the money went I reported the matter to Sandwell Police. It will come as no surprise to readers of this blog that they did absolutely f* all.
  4. Funding - before everyone now claims they wanted this thing remember that the big fundraising events were very expensive "dinners" which the average local or Baggies fan could not afford to go to. The initial event was years ago with Skinner at Birmingham Town Hall and cost a lot of money to organise. As ever, Cadman will not say what, if any, money was raised from this event. When no-one wanted to pay for this crap work he organised a "Laurie Cunningham" dinner - not in Sandwell but in Birmingham. That flopped and had to be cancelled and so he ran a smaller event at The Hawthorns (I stood outside to report for this blog and got to say hello to Cyrille which was great!) Mr Cadman produced no accounts for this event nor details of how much was raised by the auction - where many people had generously donated memorabilia for the fund. Our friend then decided to appeal to the public (and he has had unstinting favourable coverage throughout this charade from the local mainstream media). But his crowdfunding scam also fell on stony ground as local people didn't want to line Jim's pockets and it flopped.
  5. Gordon Taylor  - as the whole project floundered an unlikely "white knight" appeared. The Times newspaper reported at the weekend that the head of the "Players' Union", the Professional Footballers' Association, were donating £38,000 to Jim's private business. The PFA is a registered charity but have refused to comment on whether they have seen any accounts for this heap of sh*t. But I must refer you here to my earlier post where I asked Brendon Batson to come clean about what has gone on with the PFA since, of course, Brendon is a charitable trustee of, er, the PFA! He has declined to comment so far on my blog and the PFA did not respond to my email. Ask again Brendon - were you, a charitable trustee, involved in the decision to grant money to a private businessman to erect a statue which included yourself? Have YOU or anyone else at the PFA seen Jim's accounts for all this? The statue may be going up today but this is not over and this blog will keep asking questions until answers are provided. I am also contacting the Charity Commission as to whether this is proper use of charitable funds.

Incidentally, the cost of this waste of bronze kept increasing throughout this scheme. The Wolvo C*suckers (aka The Express and Star) - enthusiastic cheerleaders for Cadman - reported in the autumn of last year that the cost had mysteriously increased to £220,000 but, on Saturday, The Times reported that the cost had gone up to £234,000. Ask again - where are the accounts for all this?

TO REPEAT:

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MONEY, CADMAN?

HOW MUCH DID CADMAN PAY YOU MR SKINNER?

WHY DID THE PFA PUT CHARITABLE MONEY INTO THIS PRIVATE BUSINESS, MESSRS TAYLOR AND BATSON?

Incidentally, Gordon Taylor is said to be a self-confessed "art-lover" and will presumably crap himself when he sees this effort!

(One curious thing about this statue was that two of the figures were actually alive when the project started. Jim's normal modus operandi is to find a "celebrity" stiff and start working on the family (as he did with Laurie's relatives). They naturally are flattered that their loved one is remembered and then "Sunny Jim" starts his scheme boasting of the imprimatur of the bereaved. No doubt he is scanning the papers today for the next corpse he can "commemorate". What a shame poor Niki Lauda wasn't born in Tipton!)

* Leeds flatly refused to fund the Revie statue - after a campaign by fans they gave up a couple of square metres of space for it outside Elland Road.
