SMBC sources told The Skidder what he already knew ie that they were commonplace and designed to cover-up the corruption throughout the Britton era (which he says he knew nothing about.) But further to that, sources stated that, in fact, one former employee had most certainly signed such an agreement - Pam Pulsford aka Mrs Eling!
As a journalist I duly wrote to The Squealer on 21st June, 2018 quite properly and fairly giving him the right to reply. The date is significant in that his bombardment of his pet police puppet "Rich" was running out of steam and he was desperate to find other ways to bring me down. I wrote:
"I am hearing reports that despite your comments that SMBC do not use confidentiality agreements your own wife signed one.
Clearly this is a matter of considerable public interest. Please confirm if this is correct. If so why was she eligible for such an agreement in the first place? Did she also receive a pay-off over and above her contractual entitlement."
Can you believe it - he only had SMBC's taxpayer-funded legal rimmer Surjit Tour (the most dangerous man in Sandwell Council) write to the Office of the Information Commissioner (ICO) in a desperate attempt to keep all this secret and have the ICO take some sort of unspecified "action" against me! It is clear whose side the ICO is on since the documentation THEY have sent me about this is, er, heavily redacted! You might think the Head of Legal's job was to act for the Borough's residents and the full Council rather than to act as The Milkman's legal lickspittle. Remember too that this guy is a qualified solicitor and I will leave it to you to judge the "quality" of this shaming drivel:
"Dear Commissioner,
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council has received an email from Julian Saunders containing personal information and a threat of publication. The said email is attached for your reference.
Mr Saunders is requesting confirmation or comment from the Council [wrong as I was writing to The Squealer] (in particular the Leader of the Council, Councillor Steve Eling) that would result in the Council disclosing personal and/or confirming personal information without consent or lawful authority/justification. By asking for comment/confirmation, we [who is "we"?] believe that the underlying breach of the DPA 2018 by Mr Saunders is expounded and directly includes the Council in breaching the DPA, as we do not believe there is any justification for processing the personal information mentioned.

Accordingly, the Council considers that the processing of the personal information as Mr Saunders is threatening without consent or other lawful basis, [eh?] is tantamount to a breach of the Data Protection Act 2018 and requests that you urgently review and take appropriate action in respect of this matter given the imminent threat of publication."
Total b*llocks/absolute sh*te! But I think we can take the absurd attempts at a cover-up as a "yes" to the original question don't you readers?
