Sandwell's "New Tory Councillor" Mystery!

Once a greaser, always a greaser! I suppose it was inevitable with the shock of the Blue Tsunami hitting Sadders on election day that some would have an eye to the main chance.....

Thus, according to the Sandwell Council website, the Council has its first Tory Councillor for a long time and it is none other than Tom Watson's former man-servant, driver and gofer, Cllr Bill "Yellow" Gavan!

Foul-mouthed Bill, whose other soubriquet is "Alka Seltzer" because he has dissolved so many companies, claimed he would attend a public meeting to Save Lion Farm but then bottled it. "Yellow" was then given a cabinet position by Squealing Eling and seems to have become a firm advocate of the destruction of green spaces in Sandwell including Lion Farm and Brandhall Golf Club.

It is hard to know at this stage whether Gavan has genuinely-held Tory sympathies or has "joined" because of his visceral hatred of Labour Leader, Yvonne Davies?

BUT SOFT - WHAT IS THIS? When I tweeted about this late last night local Tories were totally perplexed and seemingly had no idea that Gavan had joined their merry throng. This was all news to them!

A leading local Tory tweeted this after I described this as a blunder - note the "IF" in capital letters:

And so, Cllr Gavan, please advise how and when you joined the Conservative Party and who you discussed your defection with? You have my email and Skidder readers are agog to hear from you!

Every party needs a good bouncer. The Tories need to think very carefully before they allow this ghastly character into their ranks!
